WALK WITH ME: A Sunny Afternoon in Durham, England

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

A photo diary of sorts of our time in Durham. After York, we hopped on the train to get to Durham which was further up North.

Our walks here were mostly up hill. It was quite the exercise, but I loved it because of all the sights.

The higher up we went, the less people were there. Or mostly we would encounter students, because Durham Cathedral and University were right beside each other at the top of the hill.

If there's one thing I can say about each city we went to, it was that each has its own unique color and feel.

Durham Cathedral! A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unlike with York Minster, Durham Cathedral has no entrance fee. I did not take photos because I just felt like it was only right to just observe with my eyes.

A sneak peek of Durham University. It's a castle, basically, that turns into lodging for travelers in the summer because that's when students go home to visit family.

Spot the telephone booth!

And then we spent the rest of the time hunting for thrift stores hehe. All in all it was a pleasant uphill walk, and I loved how there were less people the further up we went. It all seemed so peaceful.

Then here we are, at the train station. Another day, two beautiful historic cities.

I must've mentioned the words "walk" and "uphill" many times throughout this entry. But then walking does so much wonders to us. It helps us think clearer, and we get to see more of what's around us.

Where has your two good feet brought you lately? : - )
